Week 2 - Continuity Exercise Preparation

Shot 1 -

  • The camera will have an over look or the person approaching the door with the door still in the camera shot.
  • MS standing for 'mid shot' will mean the camera will start in the position or seeing just the shoulders and head of the person approaching the door.
  • HA standing for 'high angle' i chose this because it will allow us to keep the door in the shot.
  • 3.5 second duration
  • In the sound for this shot i want to have a knocking noise when he's at the door and a minor delay of waiting to make it look like he is waiting for confirmation to enter.

Shot 2 -
  • The camera will have a stationary shot on the door handle, this will be filmed to show the process of the door opening.
  • XCU standing for 'extreme up close' meaning the shot will just have the door handle in the frame.
  • I will plant this camera shot slightly to the side, i will be doing this procedure to ensure i keep within the 30 degree rule. The 30 degree rule is where the camera shot changes but needs to keep the same angle so the make it look realistic and a better quality you slightly change the angle by 30 degrees, you don't have to be incredibly accurate.
  • When the door opens i want some sort of chord sequence with strings to come in to create a sweet harmony.
  • 1 second duration.

Shot 3 -
  • The camera will have an over look of the person at the door entering from a distance with his eyes located 2/3rd's the way up the frame, and a laid out table with paper and pens with a low angle and the guy in the rooms shoulder slightly in the shot.
  • LA standing for 'low angle' i want this shot to make the audience question to why the camera is looking up at the person at the door, at the same time it will give a better quality picture to show what is on the table also the camera angle will almost represent what the person sitting waiting for the person entering can see.
  • The person approaching to have a good posture and well presented to show he came prepared for the occasion, also to have a distinctive clip board or book for him to be holding in his arms.
  • 4 Second duration.

Shot 4 -
  • Close up on the person going to sit down un doing the button on his suit and to place the book/clipboard firmly on the table and slide it to the other side where the other person is sat.
  • Pan up to a high angle to give us completely information on which is placed on the table and head and shoulders or the person sitting and a mid shot of the person that has just sat down.
  • The pan will hopefully create a good connection in the shot.
  • 2 Second duration.

Shot 5 -
  • This will be my master shot which in the editing process i will cut in and out of the most frequent, it has a mid angle to show the full range of action.
